Uruguay is already at the forefront and is seeking to bring robotics and computational thinking into every classroom in the country.
On 22 and 23 September, we had the opportunity to take part in the 1st Uruguayan Congress on STEM Education, organised by Ceibal for the entire teaching community of the National Public Education Administration (ANEP) and student teachers. The aim of the event was to help disseminate experiences and research in this field and to create opportunities for exchange within the educational community through round-table discussions, workshops, lectures and poster presentations.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education is a pedagogical approach that uses project-based learning to develop students’ skills in these disciplines in an integrated manner. It also promotes teamwork, decision-making, critical and creative thinking, communication and reflection.
This conference, which brought together leading figures from various countries – from both the education sector and the business world – produced a series of proposals aimed at promoting innovation in teaching practices and the development of skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
On the 22nd, SmartTEAM ran a workshop on Robotics and Applied Computational Thinking aimed at teachers.

On the second day, Mariano Batistelli, director of the SmartTEAM project, gave a talk on the approach to computational thinking and reflected on the most important aspects of this new skill.
As always, we are delighted and excited to take part in these initiatives, which aim to raise the profile of STEM education and its application in the classroom.
