SmartTEAM is a joint development by Logos and Educabot, two companies with over 10 years’ experience in education and technology. It is an educational project that promotes the learning of robotics and computational thinking in the classroom through activities that encourage children to play, build and programme. This project offers a collection of nine books to accompany pupils throughout their school career. Each book contains age-appropriate activities that enable pupils to learn about robotics and programming, whilst also linking these subjects to the core curriculum.

Why is SmartTEAM more than just a robot?
1. Its educational approach: Robots + STEAM
The proposed educational programme is based on STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths), through which pupils examine problems from different perspectives and integrate the content learnt in the various subject areas with robotics and programming. This integration of content promotes the development of ‘power skills’ in our pupils, such as creativity, problem-solving, logical thinking and collaborative learning.
2. Their methodology: PBL and storytelling
SmartTEAM has been conceived and designed using two innovative teaching methodologies: Project-Based Learning (PBL) and storytelling. Our educational programme offers a learning experience in computational thinking and robotics through a story which, as well as providing a context for learning, enables the topics to be explored in a project-based format. Each book recounts an adventure in which the characters must draw on their knowledge and work as a team to overcome the challenges they face.
3. It promotes the development of computational thinking
Computational thinking refers to learning the principles that govern the world of computing, robotics and new technologies. In a world where technological advances (robotics, artificial intelligence, etc.) are becoming an increasingly prominent feature of the workplace and everyday life, we believe it is necessary to develop new knowledge and skills for the classroom.
4. Support the educational institution and, above all, the teacher
SmartTEAM is a project designed by teachers for teachers, featuring a support plan and a range of tools for each stage of implementation. In addition to the Teacher’s Guide included with every book in the SmartTEAM series – which contains everything needed to create their own roadmap – teachers have the backing of a support team with whom they can clarify any queries and arrange online and face-to-face meetings. Furthermore, all schools implementing the SmartTEAM project have access to a Learning Community where they can share experiences and learn from those of other institutions.
5. Promotes collaborative working and learning
Each project presents a problem, and to solve it, the children must build a prototype by working in teams and using the robotics kit. In this way, an education focused on skills development is achieved, in which pupils learn to divide up tasks, assign roles, discuss new ideas and share possible solutions with their classmates.
